Watched this on a whim tonight. Was pleasantly surprised, although it was Coen Brothers so I shouldn't have been that surprised. Its a western anthology of 6 unrelated stories. A delightful mix of comedy, tragedy, and a biting inspection of the human condition. Or...at least you'll find them to be neat little ditties.

    As for the last one,

I watched this a few weeks ago. I would give it a 6 or 7 on a 1-10 scale. I think the one that soured me was

That's a good take on the last one. I didn't pick up on that. Would have to watch it again. At the time I was wondering why they ended with it, and didn't place that one somewhere in the middle. If your interpretation is correct it would explain why that makes an appropriate epilogue though.

I would have never watched the movie if it hadn't been a Coen Brothers film. Overall, I enjoyed it.

How funny because that may have been my favorite one (the wagon train to Oregon) LOL. That and the very first one with Buster Scruggs, because of the hilarious dialogue. The last one I honestly should re-watch because I zoned out several times. After Neuro's analysis of it i want to watch with that in mind.

The Oregon trail one was one of my favorites too because I thought the tragic ending was a perfect fit for that story.

I liked the Oregon trail one too! The old man digging for gold, while not the most clever or complex of the 6 stories, has a special place in my heart, just because I love seeing old men persevere over adversity! "IT DIDN'T HIT NOTHING IMPORTANT!! IT DIDN'T HIT NOTHING IMPORTANT!"

I really liked that one too! :) Was surprised by the turn it took. I thought the first turn was the last turn it would take and then it turned again.

That's me trying not to give anything away lol.

That was a really good one too. I didn't expect it to end that way either. After it I was half expecting one more twist and was glad they kept it like that. It was the right fit.

The wagon trail was the slowest but damn it cut the deepest. I felt a lump at the end.

I thought the two first sketches were hilarious, but then meh... Used to like the Coen brothers a lot.
