Hey Lindi it’s cool and the gang ;)
I just posted it because I thought it was noteworthy and may be of interest.
I hadn’t seen my nan for over 20 years. She being in the UK I down under.

I believe in the UK, King George V was the first monarch to send a 100th birthday greeting.

On Friday, former president George H. W. Bush died at the age of 94. His family and friends used code word “CAVU” to spread the news, according to CNN reporter Jamie Gangel.

“For anyone who has been a pilot, it is familiar...it stands for Ceiling and Visibility Unlimited,” Gengel said.

    I love that.
"Nan" reminds me -- I love to watch The Great British Baking Show. Everyone is so nice to each other. One day they were making naan bread, and following the traditional words at the end of every challenge, they heard, "Everyone -- Stop and put your naans up on the table," and involuntary contagious laughter rippled through the room.

I tried to google to find out when presidents started sending out birthday congratulations, but I only could find out what occasions they send greetings for now, if you request them, which was actually interesting, so I wasn't too annoyed at not being able to find the historical answer. Does the Queen send out congratulations for these sorts of events, too?

    Baby’s Birth
Baby greetings are available for babies within a year of their birth date. Please make your request after the baby is born.

    Birthdays
Birthday greetings are available for civilians celebrating their 100th birthday.

    Weddings
Weddings must occur before January 19, 2017 for a greeting to be sent from the President and Mrs. Obama.

    Wedding Anniversaries
An anniversary card can be sent to couples who are celebrating their 50th, 60th, or 70th wedding anniversary.

    Eagle Scout/Girl Scout Gold Awards

I read that under Trump, people can request presidential birthday greetings for 70th 80th and 90th birthdays, but they have to go through their representatives because he killed the Greetings Office. Hey, you win some, you lose some. lol

In 2015, my Dad received a letter from Obama, thanking him for his service, after my Dad passed away. I did have to request that he receive one, but it came with an authentic American flag, that flew over the White House. Which I didn’t request.
My Dad didn’t like Obama, as he was Republican through and through, but he would have found that honorable.

Sad to hear that Trump stopped doing this.

The office shut down when he took office, but it must have gotten started up again. The internet says the Trump administration sends birthday cards to vets who reach age 70 and each following decade. We regular people get cards starting at 80. When people have trouble, Wikihow says make a request through your representative, instead (who likely will also send a card him- or herself). I bet a representative could have a WH-flown flag sent to a constituent.

I got the beautiful flag presentation ceremony when my Dad was buried up in a lovely veterans' cemetery in Igo, CA. It made me weep. Guns firing and everything. Very solemn.

My Dad was cremated and his urn dropped in 100 feet of water, in Lake Michigan.
We got a flag from the funeral home though.
The flag from the White House was unexpected.

Young, wealthy, and successful, now dead from drugs.

    "
Colin Kroll, the co-founder of the popular "HQ Trivia" game and the "Vine" video app, was found dead in his New York City apartment on Sunday.

Kroll's girlfriend asked the New York Police Department to check up on the 34-year-old after she failed to get in touch with the tech executive, according to TMZ. Officers found him unconscious and unresponsive on his bed.

His body reportedly was found with "drug paraphernalia" in his downtown Manhattan apartment."
