Erangel Classic will recreate the old-school battlefield from the game's inception for a two-week run in May and June in PUBG: Battlegrounds. The battle royale game launched in 2017 and has now been on the market for just under eight years.

Krafton says that the Erangel Classic map will reproduce the original's concept, graphics, atmosphere, and UI/ It will blend those with "modern tweaks" to create "enjoyable gameplay experiences."



Similar to remasters of other classic games, the aim is to feel as close to the original as possible. Walking a thin line without removing all of the subtle improvements from the game's evolution.

The revamped map idea could be inspired by Fortnite's new 2018 island map, which had a peak player count of 44.7 million, a record for the game. Krafton could definitely gain from that kind of success.

To create an atmosphere of unpredictability, fog, and rain are added to the starting island, and bench weapons are made with reduced recoil to match the original. There is also a Tommy Gun in the care package.
