I've missed a lot this season for a variety of reasons, so I need your help understanding what the small figurine, carving that Darryl found at the end of the episode was meant to signify.

Dwight carves little figures, and Darryl knows that from when he was sneaking about Terminus. It was Dwight saying 'I didn't know about the Garbage People's double-cross.' (i.e he's still really on their side)

Daryl knows Dwight makes figurines from when he took one from him last season and in his room at the sanctuary and Dwight didn't know the scavengers made a deal with negan so he wrote in on a figurine and hid it for Daryl to find

The equivalent of throwing a needle in a haystack hoping Daryl will find it. Sheesh

Yes, probably pretty farfetched thinking he'd find it, but necessary to future storyline, so who cares? Plus if anyone else found it, you'd just have to assume they'd bring it to the groups attention as in "hey, look what I found" and then Daryl would get the clue anyway.

    Hey how's the arm??

As mentioned in post 2, Dwight left it there for Daryl. Someone would have found it there eventually since they open and close the gate multiple times per day.

My arm is improving, thanks for asking. The pain is manageable now and I'm starting to focus on getting mobility back. I've always kind of prided myself on the muscle tone in my arms, but my left arm is now almost completely without bicep or shoulder definition. Who knew that sort of deterioration could happen so quickly? I try to stay focused on the day when I'll be able to get back on my bicycle and ride to the farmer's market or, hell, just do any of the things that I'm missing out on right now, sigh. Baby steps.

    Love and hugs.

I signed on just to ask about the little carving Darryl found. I knew it had to mean something. I missed a couple of the "Dwight" scenes in previous episodes.
Is it just me or do they sometimes mumble. I turned the captions on so I could hear everything. Most dialogue is normal but this last one with Abe and Sasha was so low.

It's really going to get interesting with Daryl and Dwight next season. Almost makes me wish he didn't kill Denise. That's really his only unforgivable act. Everything else, taking the motorcycle, feeding Daryl dog food, and generally being a dick. Can all be sort of justified. He was doing whatever it took to protect Sherry and stay alive. And while we are fans of Daryl and Rick's people, they are just random strangers to Dwight. No real reason for him to be kind to them.

And those acts could be forgiven if he ends up being important to Rick defeating Negan. But he killed Denise. One of the people Daryl blames himself for, their "doctor", and overall really nice person. So getting over him straight up murdering her is going to be a tough one.

yes, a bunch of mumblers! other people have brought this up. i always use closed captioning for the entire first viewing although l will only really need it for a few scenes.

Actually, the little carving(s) goes back to when Daryl met Dwight and Sherry in the burned out forest, if I remember correctly. (When Dwight and Sherry stole Daryl's bike...)

I know that's why I had said last season when he stole the figurine from Dwight in the woods when he took control of them after he escaped with
    their insulin

Apologies. ;) That (Darryl and Dwight in the woods) seemed so long ago, I thought it had to have been a couple of seasons ago! LOL!
