This episode marks the end of the Monroe family. Wheter you liked them or not, it is tragic seeing a family we've been with for a couple seasons now get completely wiped out. Did you like any of them? Let's discuss Deanna Monroe, Reg Monroe, Aiden Monroe, and Spencer Monroe in this thread.

I just realized how close together the lenses are on Reg's glasses.

Yeah, Deanna and Reg seemed like good folks. Makes me wonder how their kids ended up as such a-holes.

I liked Reg the most. He was a good man, who loved his family and cared about his community. Reg was the one that built the wall that has protected Alexandria, although Gimple has let other characters say it was built incorrectly, implying that nobody is right in the walker apocalypse except Rick Grimes. :zombies_rolleyes:

I didn't like Deanna at first. She was a liberal Democrat who tried to make Alexandria into a idealist Socialist society where everyone had an assigned job ('It looks like the Democrats won'). Deanna was also arrogant, who ignored all of Rick's advice on defense, which in turn led to Rick's own arrogance when he took over the town. Deanna also locked up of Alexandria's guns, which left everyone defenseless when the Wolves attacked.

In defense of Deanna, it took Reg's death and the Wolves' attack to admit she made mistakes. She had hopes of rebuilding Alexandria and the spirits of the community, but she died before she could see that happen.

I hated Aiden and Spencer. Aiden was an idiot who was put in charge of security just because his parents founded Alexandria, and he took a few ROTC courses in college. Every time Aiden led a recon group out, he got somebody killed. Spencer was a slacker who couldn't even guard the gate, and was too cowardly to rescue his own mother during the Wolves' attack. All his actions post "JSS" was jealousy against Rick for becoming the new leader of Alexandria. Spencer figured he could get Negan to do his dirty work, but Negan saw through it, and showed Spencer that he had guts in him the whole time. :dead:

Agree on most points. I don't know if everyone had an assigned job. And some people were not the best choice for their jobs. Best example is Olivia. She was too weak to prevent people from grabbing what they wanted when they were under walker siege. She knew nothing about guns but was in charge of them. So yes, that was a fail on Deanna's part. And why was Noah, who had trouble walking, sent out scouting?

I think Olivia got the armory job because it was sharing the same building as the pantry, so she could handle what was supposed to be an easy job.

I think Noah went on those runs because he wanted to contribute in some way, and Aiden wanted to show the new people that he called the shots outside of Alexandria.

Reg was great. What I really liked about Reg was that he was a person of affluence/high society, but he was down to earth and genuine. He believed in Noah and he was willing to teach others and help make people better. That's no better type of human being out there.

Deanna- she was also a politician. So you know she had some skeletons in the closet. Otherwise, she seemed like a good person

Their kids.... Total D-bags. They obviously took the great life that their good parents provided to them for granted. Dicks!

I agree, Reg was great. A decent human being.

Deanna was a politician (the political party makes no damn difference). All the worst qualities for leader in an apocalyptic world. Just dumb luck that no real bad guys found them while they lived their pretend ideal existence.

Spencer was his mother's son. With all the same really wrong qualities to make a good citizen for a survivor group. What he got was way more severe than he deserved, but he was never going to be a contributing member of the group.

Aiden, I think he had potential. He was a jerk when we first met him, but he learned that Glenn knew what he was talking about. Unfortunately, Aiden died too soon. He might have turned into a decent person if he had lived.

It would have been interesting to see Reg be the lone survivor, even though his death was the necessary catalyst for Deanna to give Rick his power. I like when Rick has an older, moral compass to bounce off. As he did with Hershel and to some extent, Dale.

Right now Daryl is the closest. Him and Michonne are the ones who call him out, but they both just voice their opinions and ultimately follow his lead. I think he works best when he has someone standing up against his decisions, someone he will listen to. Reg would have been interesting because he didn't want to lead, but was willing to listen and speak his mind.

I messed up and voted that I disliked them all. But I liked Reg ok. Seemed like a straight shooter and fair with integrity. Deanna I saw as a delusional panty waste. She was at least starting to see reality. Both sons were as useless as **** on a boar hog. Reg was so different I forgot he was a Monroe. I would have to guess Deanna did most of the raising.
