The newer The Hills Have Eyes was not scary, but got my respect for being out truly disturbing and out there.

I'm just gonna say it, ain't no scarier movie then The Exorcist. Yes there are other scary movies, but they NEVER measure up. I have yet to see one. I had high hopes for The Conjoring, but towards the end that movie became a joke :/

Depends on what you think it's scary. I always saw the Exorcist as a normal horror movie, there really isn't anything particulary scary about it for me. There are far more disturbing movies out there, such as for example "A Serbian Movie".

Absolutely agree with this. I saw this film when it aired on the movie network a couple of years ago and was completely mesmerized by it. Beautifully done, Fascinating. Eerie. Perfect.

Many of the movies on my list, as well as "Let the Right One In" have already been mentioned by others:

    The Descent
    An American Werewolf in London
    Jaws
    The Shining
    The Omen
    28 Days Later

Oh, I forgot about these two. Open Water was very good, as was The Host (the version I'm referring to is the original Japanese flick about a Godzilla-type monster living in the River Han who starts devouring people). Good picks!

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
    Dawn of the Dead (1978)
    28 Days Later
Shaun of the Dead (I know, I know, lol)
    House of 1000 Corpses
    Dead Snow
Let the Right One In (Swedish version)
    Wolf Creek
    The Descent
    The Strangers
