Slash made a horror movie. Again.
I’m referring to the guitarist with the top hat and cane, formerly of Guns ‘n Roses — he makes movies now. I never saw his first one, so I’m in no position to judge his filmmaking skills (even if he’s just the producer). His next film, “The Hell Within,” is a mostly crowdfunded effort and written by a guy who also wrote something called “The Midnight Meat Train.”
Slash sent us — or rather, the publicity department representing him sent us — this press release describing “The Hell Within” and everything that has to do with it. Even if his movies aren’t that great, kudos to Slash for following his passion anyway.
Los Angeles, July 9, 2015 — Iconic guitarist Slash announced today that he will produce his second feature film “The Hell Within” and is looking to engage fans in the making of the film from start to finish. Fans will have a variety of unique on-going incentives and exclusive rewards that will be offered starting today and expanding through every stage of the film’s completion at TheHellWithin.com.
The campaign commences today with a selection of opportunities with more to be unveiled over the coming weeks. Many of the rewards will provide unprecedented access behind the scenes of both “The Hell Within” film and Slash’s concerts. On-going reward opportunities include: private screenings, premiere tickets, poster design, film scoring sessions with Slash, set visits, personal production update calls from Slash, and featured on-screen parts in the film – to name a few. Rewards will be revealed on going at TheHellWithin.com as the film progresses through stages of development, casting, production, editing, and finishing.
“Fans have always been a source of motivation for me,” said the legendary guitarist, Slash. “This is about including them in the creative process, and offering them rewards for inspiring us.”
“The Hell Within” follows a woman from New York on a quest into the heart of the Brazilian jungle to save a missing girl, only to discover that the child was just the beginning. The film will be directed by Dennison Ramalho (ABC’s Of Death 2), written by Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train), and produced by Slash under his SlashFiction banner, in partnership with Benito Mueller and Wolfgang Mueller of Barry Films.
“I love creepy, haunting stuff. I don’t go for psycho movies really. But I love monsters. And scares that are more cerebral. I love practical effects that make those monsters seem more real on screen,” continued Slash. “When I read the script for ‘The Hell Within’ I knew it was the right project for my taste. It spoke to my horror sensibilities. And a story I know horror fans will dig as well.”
