The Walking Dead is never tea and roses, but it sounds like the Nov. 30 mid-season finale, “Coda,” might be especially sad.
In a new TV Guide interview Norman posted on his Facebook page, Norman Reedus hints at a tragedy that had him crying even before filming.
“I sat on an apple box with my head between my legs and just bawled for an hour,” Norman told TV Guide. Weird thing here is that bawled is spelled “balled” in the scan for some reason.
“I really wanted not to tear up during [the scene] — I wanted to be like I had wasted every tear in my body before we started shooting — so I just sat there and cried and cried and cried.”
Part of that sounds like Norman is simply very committed to his acting process, like the time he ran until he nearly collapsed for real so he’d be adequately out of breath for the scene where Beth is kidnapped. But there’s definitely a very sad thing that he’s reacting to as well.
Norman also promises that Daryl will show no Mercy to Beth and Carol’s kidnappers at Grady Memorial Hospital.
“He’s ready to just burn the place down. It’s a different world now, and certain people have gone so dark you have to put down the rabid ones in order to survive,” he said.
