The Walking Dead Season Five Starts Sunday
The moment you’ve been waiting for for so, so very long is almost here. On Sunday night The Walking Dead will return with a brand new season.
AMC released the video you see above to refresh your memory about how season four ended, with our survivors crammed in a dark and cramped train car. Preview footage shows they get out of the car very quickly in the first episode, “No Sanctuary,” but it’s an out of the frying pan, into the fire situation as they end up in the sinister clutches of the residents of Terminus and its leader Gareth.
Here’s an official season five synopsis:
Season Four of The Walking Dead ended with Rick and the group outgunned, outnumbered, and trapped in a train car awaiting a grim fate.
Season Five picks up shortly thereafter. What follows is a story that weaves the true motives of the people of Terminus with the hopeful prospect of a cure in Washington, D.C., the fate of the group’s lost comrades, as well as new locales, new conflicts, and new obstacles in keeping the group together and staying alive.
Stories will break apart and intersect. The characters will find love and hate. Peace and conflict. Contentment and terror. And, in the quest to find a permanent, safe place to call home, one question will haunt them…
After all they’ve seen, all they’ve done, all they’ve sacrificed, lost, and held on to no matter what the cost…
Who do they become?
The Walking Dead Creator Robert Kirkman recently told Entertainment Weekly fans should buckle themselves in for a fast-paced ride in the first half of this season.
“The only hint that I’ll really give you is that there’s a lot of ground covered in our first 8 episodes, so I would say without a doubt that Gareth is far from the only threat, quite possibly far from the biggest threat, and there’s quite a bit on the horizon. I would just say more than any other season, we hit the ground running, and there’s quite a bit going on with all of these characters. I think people are going to be pretty happy to be along for the ride,” Kirkman said.
The show will premiere Sunday at 9 PM ET on AMC in the United States. There are later showtimes in international markets. It airs at 9 PM Oct. 13 on Fox TV UK, for example.
