Thanks. And sorry for yours as well.

Honestly, I could maybe see it ending with the discovery/founding of Sanctuary? Like the final panel being one big page showing the factory and its smokestacks, rising up all big and impressive, and Negan down at the bottom (likely with some type of group in tow) saying something like "Home sweet fucking home".

Could be kinda badass. They have four more issues left in the original planned length of this backstory to get there.

Finally, we progress in this story!! We spend seven issues basically walking from one room to the next, and now we've got Negan forming his first group several weeks in. I'm now a bit more optimistic that we may actually see some development into 'Negan'.

We unexpectedly got big news about the future of "Here's Negan!" in The Walking Dead Issue 161 Letter Hacks. The side-story was originally set to be only 12 issues, so it would have ended March 2017. However, the Letter Hacks revealed that it is currently set to now be 16 installments!!!

So, we just got a four-issue extension, folks.

Next issue of Here's Negan! dropped today.

It's super-easy to summarize this one. LMAO

All action, almost no talking.

The walkers that had been creeping up from the shadows last issue descend and chaos ensues. Negan struggles with trying to fire his rifle close range and yells about them not warning him that they were being surrounded. Too little, too late as the walkers kill everyone else in the party.

Bearded, Season 5 Rick Grimes-esque grizzly man Negan ends up retrieving the baseball bat the other guy had. Looking incredibly reminiscent to the silhouette panels of when he kills Glenn in Issue #100, Negan takes out the walkers with the future Lucille. When the danger is gone, he drops the bat to the ground and starts to walk away. Negan pauses, looks back over his shoulder to the weapon, and thinks for a moment.

Last page shows him picking the bloody, gory bat back up off the ground and holding it in a pose that looks almost exactly like when he first met Rick's group and asked which one of those pricks was the leader. This issue ends showing Negan walking away with the baseball bat strapped to the top of his backpack.

Fair warning, the schedule seems to go a little wacky for 2017. Whereas Image+ had been dropping the last Wednesday of the month, now it will be coming out the first Wednesday of the month - same as TWD. The next issue will be February 1st.

Maybe I'm reading into this too much but when he gets pissed about not being warned. Thats when he knows he needs a "group".

To be honest, it's open-ended enough right now that I don't really have a strong bead on where we're going from here.

He's had the hospital kid die on him and the first group he encountered die on him, so perhaps the next person or small group of people we encounter will be the founding Saviors (like Dwight and Sherry). Maybe they are struggling to survive, Negan comes along, and basically establishes control and starts showing more of his dictator-ish/Rick-tatorship traits in order to keep them alive, since he is convinced that he knows best in that regard (a sort of "follow me if you want to live" sort of thing).

Hey, kids, big day today! 25 cent TWD AND a new issue of Here's Negan!

Part 10 synopsis:

We open with a lone Negan wandering around the fallen world, killing walkers as he goes. He stops at a stream to wash the blood and guts off of Lucille when an older couple approach him, telling him they aren't trying to rob him... they just want to know if he has a safe place to stay.

Next page, the couple tell Negan a story of them escaping walkers, but losing their 16-year-old relative (unclear if daughter, granddaughter, niece, or whatever). They had to keep running. Next panel, we see this couple killed as Negan fights off walkers.

Next up, a young woman walks beside Negan and describes her husband's death. He had a fever, took a nap, she thought the room was secure, but it wasn't. She could barely escape herself, couldn't save him. Next panel, the lady is taken down by walkers as Negan tries to pull her to safety.

Sensing a pattern here, folks?

Next up, a brother and sister sit with Negan by a campfire. They tell him about their father's death - the dad told them to run and he'd catch up. Instead, they heard his dying screams as they ran.

Next panel, the three are scavenging a Walmart when the brother is attacked by a walker. On the next page, the sister asks Negan to stop. She's been bitten on the neck and hadn't noticed at the time.

He loses it. "F*ck you." The girl looks confused. He continues with a tirade. "You're bit?! F*ck you! Go f*cking f*ck yourself up your f*cking a*s, you f*ck. I'm sick to death of this sh*t! You ran and let your father die. You f*cking flipped your sh*t in there... and let your f*cking brother die, and for all your trouble... you get to f*cking die. I'm sick of you people. You're all f*cking weak. ALL YOU EVER DO IS DIE. So go die."

He leaves her sobbing on the ground.

Next page, Negan kills a rabbit and is roasting it on a fire when a sound comes from behind him. He spins and points his rifle, saying that things sneaking up on him in the dark are either dead or about to be.

A familiar face - to us - emerges from the woods, hands held up in peace, crossbow slung over his shoulder. "C'mon... you weren't going to eat that whole thing by yourself, were you? I'm Dwight. You look like you could use some company..."

Dammit, the old couple died!! When you said an old couple found him, I was so hoping to hear that the saviors started as just Negan and two elderly people lol.

Okay, so since work's been mayhem and I haven't had the chance to swing by the comic book shop yet, a friend was so kind as to hook me up with screenshots of today's issue.

So, lemme summarize for y'all:

We left off with Negan meeting Dwight for the first time, and they have a conversation about his crossbow. Dwight lets him hold it and check it out in exchange for some of the roasted rabbit Negan had going on. Negan asks if the arrows are reusable, to which Dwight replies that they are and that they're actually called bolts. As it gets close to dark, Dwight begins to lead him to a safer location... Negan, of course, threatens him if it's a trap ("I must warn you, I'm a bad motherf*cker who will split your skull the f*ck in half if you cross me.").

Dwight's camp looks much like Shane's did when Rick found them way back in the beginning - just a bunch of people camping together in vehicles and tents. Dwight starts to introduce them to Negan and Negan tells him not to bother. If they live a few days, THEN he'll ask for their names. Otherwise, he feels there's no point in getting to know people who may die in 10 minutes. Sherry hugs Dwight's neck and comments, "He's a friendly one, Dwight. You think maybe you should spend a bit more time with them before you bring them back?" To which Dwight replies, "Seemed lonely. I felt sorry for him."

Next page, Negan and Sherry are helping pack up the camp into the back of a car. Negan thanks her for their group taking him in and apologizes for having been stand-offish earlier. Sherry replies that it's fine, she understands. Their group had people who didn't last long and died so fast she didn't remember their names, so she gets where he's coming from. Then says, "But I'm Sherry, okay? Try not to forget it."

Heh.

Next panel, they're all around the campfire. Sherry is wrapped around Dwight's neck again as Negan observes from the background. Next panel, Negan and Dwight are hunting together. Negan comments that the crossbow and its reusable bolts really IS useful, "It's like a condom you can wash out and use again... like anything reusable. Don't know why I had to mention the condom. Just trying to be crass." To which Dwight replies, "I've gotten used to it."

Next panel is a shirtless Negan shaving off the grizzly man beard and OH MY GOD THOSE ARMS, SO BIG, SO SEXY. *ahem* Sherry stands in the doorway watching him. Guess she shares my opinion. LOL No, but seriously, Negan comments on the fact that it'll be dark and spooky in there, but the hotel would be the safest place for the group tonight. And says he's always liked hotels. Sherry replies, "Me, too. Mostly for the things that are typically done in them."

You hussy.

Last page, the group is clearing out a path in a shopping mall to scavenge supplies. Negan is giving orders left and right about positioning so that everybody is covered by a buddy and things are orderly. He's doing so to everyone by name, so clearly they're "worthy" to him now. We see John and Tara mentioned, so those two Saviors were there from the start as well. Last panel is Negan whacking walkers with Lucille telling, "We can do this! If we work together, we can all survive!! Nobody has to die today! FIGHT!"

Apparently, Part 12 came out last Wednesday and work has been such an absolute shitstorm that I missed that little tidbit of news. Sure wish Image+ would pick a timeframe and stick with it, instead of sometimes being last Wednesday of the month and sometimes first Wednesday of the month...

I was wrong last issue. I thought the place they were raiding/cleaning up was a mall, but it is actually a hotel.

Minor details.

We open up with various members of Dwight's group running out of the hotel, per Negan's coordinated exit strategy he laid out in Part 11. Everyone makes it out and starts checking on each other... which is when someone notices Negan isn't among them.

Dwight expresses concern. "Oh, God... did he --?"

Next panel is a full page of Negan being a total badass, covered in walkers (while somehow miraculously not getting bitten by any of them) and fighting through them to get out of the door, with a battle cry of "F*cking f*ck f*uckity f*ck!"

He loses his footing, then shouts for the group to open fire on the walkers as he gets back up and swings Lucille around. Then, Negan drops Lucille to the ground and slings the rifle off his back and joins the group in killing all the walkers through firepower.

On the last page, Negan runs a hand over his head, slicking his askew hair back down into the gelled-back hairstyle we're more used to seeing modern Negan sporting. Tara asks him, "What now? We clean this place out? Should we stay here?"

Negan answers, "F*ck no. We'll find a better place. Follow me."

As Negan leads the group away and the others follow him, we're left with a panel of Dwight looking disappointed/defeated. He's quickly losing leadership status of his group...

I would do that, but I'm afraid the real thing would pale in comparison after reading Dragon's rendition. Once you've experienced Dragon's version, seeing the real thing would be like meeting Mozart in person. Almost surely a disappointment.
